Gill, Marjorie, DVM, MS, Professor - Cohort 2006
Dr. Gill received her D.V.M. from Iowa State University in 1976. After graduation she entered a mixed animal practice (dairy and swine emphasis) in Northeastern Iowa for 5 years and then returned to Iowa State University where she joined the faculty in the food animal clinic and simultaneously completed a Master?s degree in Veterinary Clinical Sciences.
In 1984 Dr. Gill accepted an Assistant Professor position at the Louisiana State University, School of Veterinary Medicine in the food animal clinic where teaching and service have been her primary responsibilities for the past 22 years. During this time she was promoted to full professor and became a Diplomate of the ABVP (food animal specialty) in 1991 (recertified in 1999).
Her clinical interest is surgery and, in particular, gastrointestinal, reproductive and ocular surgery in cattle, and, urogenital surgery in small ruminants. She is also has an avid interest in animal behavior and has become a strong proponent of Problem Based Learning in the curriculum. Her teaching efforts have been rewarded twice with receipt of the Norden Distinguished Teacher Award.
