Abreu, Hilda, MS - Cohort 2008
Hilda Mejia Abreu grew up in the Dominican Republic. After high school, she attended the University of Massachusetts at Boston where she completed a Baccalaureate Degree in Social Sciences and a minor in Latin American Studies. In 1992, Hilda earned her Master's Degree in Public Administration from the same school. Between 1990 and 1992, Hilda also worked as an assistant director of Financial Aid, Office of Admissions counselor, and Student Employment Coordinator at the University of Massachusetts.
In 1993, Hilda Mejia Abreu joined the Office of Career Services at Michigan State University. After one year, she joined the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) as the Director of Admissions and Student Services Coordinator. Since 1994, Hilda has worked with CVM faculty and administrators in preparing prospective applicants to apply to the college, admitting new veterinary medical students and providing support services to enrolled medical students.
Currently, Ms. Mejia Abreu is completing requirements for a PhD in Higher Education Administration at Michigan State University. Her research focus is related to veterinary school admissions and use of a hybrid model for admissions of medical students using non-cognitive and cognitive components.
