AVMA PLIT

Karen M Wernette, DVM is a Trust Representative with the AVMA Professional Liability Insurance Trust in Chicago, Illinois. The AVMA PLIT sponsors an array of insurance products for veterinarians, including professional liability insurance (malpractice) and business insurance products. She assists in formulating and implementing policies, act as a liaison between the Trust and the Trust’s service providers, discusses malpractice issues with veterinarians and presents educational programs.

Previous to joining AVMA PLIT she worked in a companion animal practice. She has also been the Executive Director for the American Veterinary Medical Law Association and the Association of Veterinary Practice Management Consultants and Advisors. For fourteen years she worked at the American Veterinary Medical Association as an Assistant Director and the Director of the Membership Division and as the Director of the Career Development Center.

Karen received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University.
